Bundesliga
The standout result of Friday 18 September was impossible to miss: Bayern München dismantled Union Berlin 7-0 at home in a performance that will send a signal to the rest of the Bundesliga. Seven goals without reply is about as emphatic as it gets, and any notion that Union Berlin might trouble the hosts was extinguished long before the final whistle. A statement evening for Bayern.
Premier League
Brentford handed Chelsea a 3-0 home defeat on Friday. A clean-sheet victory of that margin against a club of Chelsea's resources represents a significant upset, and the scoreline will heap pressure on the visitors heading into the coming week. Brentford can reflect on a thoroughly convincing evening's work.
La Liga
There was another surprise on Friday as Elche won 3-1 away at Espanyol. Three goals on the road makes it a result that will draw attention throughout the division.
Serie A
In Friday's Serie A fixture, Monza edged out Sassuolo 2-1 at home. A narrow three points for Monza, who secured a 2-1 win over Sassuolo in Friday's Serie A fixture. A tight, competitive contest to close out the Italian action on the night.
Ligue 1
Monaco claimed all three points with a 2-1 home victory over Lens in Ligue 1 on Friday.
