Premier League
The summer's most eye-catching confirmed move belongs to Sandro Tonali, who has completed a transfer from Newcastle to Tottenham. Tonali's arrival at Spurs has been accompanied by the signing of Mateus Fernandes from West Ham on a permanent deal.
The other side of Spurs’ ledger is equally telling. The club have moved on a significant number of fringe and younger players. Luka Vušković has joined Brighton on a permanent transfer, while William Lankshear has moved to Middlesbrough. Archie Devine has departed for Preston on a permanent basis. On loan, Radu Drăgușin has headed to Fiorentina and Yusuf Akhamrich to Leyton Orient. Several players have also left on free transfers: Matthew Craig to Port Vale, Arganese-McDermott to Crawley Town, Leon Myrtaj to Debreceni VSC, and Ángelo Véliz has been sold to Bahia. The pattern is clear — Tottenham are aggressively thinning a bloated squad while using the savings and space to target established names at the top end.
Brighton have been active on both sides too, losing Vušković to Spurs after also seeing Jan van Hecke depart for Tottenham on a permanent deal. That represents a notable defensive exodus, and Brighton’s former project players are clearly in demand across the division.
Newcastle, meanwhile, lose Sandro Tonali to Tottenham on a permanent basis. It is a significant departure for Newcastle's side and one that raises questions about their direction heading into the new campaign.
Serie A
Fiorentina have bolstered their defensive options with the loan signing of Radu Drăgușin from Tottenham.
Championship & Lower Leagues
At Championship level, Middlesbrough have secured William Lankshear from Tottenham on a permanent transfer, a move that should add attacking depth for Middlesbrough's side. Preston have landed Alfie Devine from Tottenham on a permanent transfer.
Further down the pyramid, Leyton Orient have taken Yusuf Akhamrich on loan from Tottenham, while Port Vale and Crawley Town have each picked up a Spurs player on a free — Matthew Craig and Arganese-McDermott respectively. It is routine but valuable squad-building at that level.
International
Both moves suggest the players were not part of Tottenham's first-team plans, with the club content to clear wages and free up registration spots ahead of the new season.
