La Liga
Three matches were played in La Liga on Tuesday, with Real Madrid's narrow victory at Elche producing the most eventful scoreline of the evening. Real Madrid left with all three points from a 3-2 result against Elche. It is the kind of result that speaks to Madrid's capacity to grind out wins even when the opposition makes things uncomfortable, with Elche pushing them all the way to a 3-2 finish.
Rayo Vallecano made it a positive night for the Madrid region by defeating Espanyol 2-1. Rayo Vallecano beat Espanyol 2-1 at home on Tuesday 15 September 2026. Espanyol, for their part, will feel they were in the game until the end but could not find the equaliser.
The third result of the evening saw Valencia claim a 1-0 win at Alavés, a clean sheet and a slender margin telling its own story. The three points will be valuable for Valencia, who claimed a 1-0 away win at Alavés. Alavés, meanwhile, are left without a win from this fixture and will need to sharpen their home form.
